Now that shooting has begun, first in New Zealand and now in Australia, the cast of X-Men Origins: Wolverine is being revealed. Marvel has chosen this opportunity to not only tell the history of Wolverine from his Team X adventures through the Weapons X program but to also include crossover characters in hopes of creating other spin off franchises. I can't help worrying because it looks like they've decided to include every character Wolverine has ever spoken to in the Marvel Universe.

Hugh Jackman reprising his X-Men role as Wolverine are Liev Schreiber as Victor Creed/Sabretooth, Danny Huston as Colonel William Stryker, Lynn Collins as Silver Fox, Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Taylor Kitsch as Gambit, will.i.am as Wraith, Dominic Monaghan as Beak, and Daniel Henney as Agent Zero. X-Men Origins: Wolverine opens in theaters May 1, 2009.

Liev Schreiber has appeared as Micheal Keppler on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2007) as well as films such as The Manchurian Candidate (2004) and RKO 281 (1999). In 2005, he directed Everything Is Illuminated. His character, Sabretooth, is also a victim of the Weapon X program, unlike Wolverine who tries to suppress his animal instincts, Sabretooth embraces them and has become Wolverine's biggest rival and enemy.

A few of Danny Huston's more memorable roles come from The Constant Gardener (2005), The Aviator (2004) and 21 Grams (2003). His character, Colonel William Stryker, is on a mission to destroy mutant-kind with an obsessive passion. He has also been linked to the Weapon X program which created Wolverine and Sabretooth. In the movie X2 (2003), William Stryker was portrayed by Brian Cox

Lynn Collins appeared in The Merchant of Venice (2004) with Al Pacino. Her character, Silver Fox, is also a victim of the Weapon X project. She and Wolverine were either lovers or those memories were planted by the Weapon X team. She is ultimately killed by Sabretooth.

Ryan Reynolds is best known from his role as Berg on the television series Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place which ran from 1998 to 2001. His character, Deadpool flunked out of the second Weapon X program being left horribly disfigured and mentally unstable but cured of his cancer.

Taylor Kitsch has appeared in 35 episodes of Friday Night Lights as Tim Riggins. He plays the well know Cajun mutant thief, Gambit who joined the X-Men after rescuing Storm. His bio-kinetic powers are often directed through playing cards. After becoming part of the X-Men Blue Team under Cyclops, he develops a romantic interest in fellow team member Rogue.

will.i.am is known for his work in the music industry as a member of The Black Eyed Peas, writer, composer and performer. His character, Wraith, was recruited into the X-Men by Jean Grey after saving him from a mob. She needed his help to free the other mutants from Magento during their imprisonment on Genoshan. As a mutant, Wraith is able to make his skin translucent.

Dominic Monaghan has appeared on television as Geoffrey Shawcross in Hetty Wainthropp Investigates (1996-1998) and recently as Charlie Pace on Lost (2004-2008) but you might also remember him as the Hobbit Merry in The Lord of the Rings. In X-Men lore, Beak's mutant lover Angel Salvadore chooses Wolverine's deserted shack as her nesting site.

South Korean actor Daniel Henney recently appeared in My Father (2007). With the ability to absorb kinetic energy, Agent Zero (aka David North) was a member of Team X, working with Logan and Victor Creed before they were all eventually captured and used as test subjects in Weapon X.
