Heather Ledger's Death: Accidental Overdose

Heath Ledger

The New York medical examiner has concluded Heath Ledger's death was the result of accidental overdose from the abuse of prescription medications.

"Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine," medical examiner spokesperson Ellen Borakove said.

The medications mentioned are the generic equivalents of OxyContin (painkiller), Vicodin (painkiller), Valium (antianxiety), Xanax (antianxiety), Resotril (insomnia), and Doxylamine (antihistamine). Alone, each of these medications is perfectly safe when used at the appropriate dosage, together they formed a lethal combination.
