After weeks of rumors regarding the casting of field commander Duke, Channing Tatum has finally signed to Stephen Sommers' G.I. Joe movie. Since appearing in an episode of CSI: Miami in 2004, Tatum has kept busy appearing alongside Samuel L. Jackson Coach Carter (2006), as Amanda Bynes' love interest in She's the Man (2006), and A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (2006).
Dennis Quaid will play General Hawk who was responsible for recruiting the original team. This year, Quaid will appear in Smart People. His extensive career contains many memorable films such as The Day After Tomorrow (2004), Far from Heaven (2002), Dragonheart (1996), Great Balls of Fire! (1989), and The Big Easy (1987).
Arnold Vosloo will play Zartan, Cobra Commander's chameleon mercenary who can sound and appear as anyone he wishes. Vosloo and Sommers previously worked together on The Mummy where he also plays a villain, Imhotep. You may also remember him playing Habib Marwan on season 5 of 24 (2005).
G.I. Joe is scheduled for release in theaters Aug 7, 2009.
