At 3:36pm, January 22, 2008, Heath Ledger was pronounced dead in his New York City apartment. Although prescription medication was found on hand, there are no signs of suicide or foul play.
At age 28, Heath leaves behind an impressive body of work including Brokeback Mountain (2005), A Knight's Tale (2001), and The Patriot (2000). His untimely death leaves two productions in uncertain conditions. Scheduled for release July 18th, Heath plays The Joker in Warner Brothers' next Batman film, The Dark Knight. The good news is filming has completed. The bad news is rumors claim Heath hadn't yet laid down any post-production voice tracks. Meanwhile, work on Terry Gillam's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus has stopped until they can regroup. Heath plays a man who enters a magical mirror so it's possible for another actor to take on his character in the world of the mirror.
