Considering his past, as writer, director and producer of shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly, it's exciting to have confirmation of the future. 20th Century Fox wants seven episodes of Joss Whedon's series Dollhouse.
One day, while discussing career plans, Joss casually tells Eliza Dushku (Tru Calling and Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Faith) some random ideas for a new series. Since studio executives want Eliza in more challenging roles, they ask for her input. She off-handedly mentions Joss's ideas. The next thing you know, they are signing up to do seven episodes - no pilot episode required.
The concept revolves around characters who can be programmed to perform different assignments. Eliza plays Echo who's gradual self-awareness begins to complicate her missions. This is a great chance for her to play a wide range of roles in a limitless number of situations.
E! Online has interviews with both Joss and Eliza.
