This year's winner of the prestigious Spectrum Award, Doug Beekman, is set to take center stage this August in Comic Images' DOUG BEEKMAN COLLECTOR CARDS. Beekman, an industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience painting for magazines, books, comics and calendars, was just named the 1997 Spectrum Award Gold Medal Award Winner for Comic Art for his DC Comics' Batman painting, "Shadow of the Bat."

DOUG BEEKMAN COLLECTOR CARDS will be a cross section of Beekman's varied artistic career. His work has been featured in every major museum exhibition of fantasy art in the last ten years, and his paintings have graced everything from the covers of heavy metal magazines, to the "Lord of the Rings" Calendars, to "James Bond" promotional art, to corporate logos and political satire. Beekman is revered for his fantasy paintings in the sword and sorcerer style where his interest in 18th and 19th Century Art is most evident. He is probably best known for his "Conan the Barbarian" covers for Marvel Comics, and most currently the "Tor Conan" series.

DOUG BEEKMAN COLLECTOR CARDS will include 72-full color, UV-coated cards that explore the battle of Conan in Cimmeria, Gandalf wandering the Middle Earth and visions of Xanth, Shannara and Gotham City. Beekman's dreamlike myths, passionate combat and the portrayal of the edge of infinity will await collectors on extra-thick, 24 pt. card stock.
